Wallace Takes Top Spot

Today's 100 Bird sporting on the Hill was our last Clay Sports Ireland visit for 2015 and I am pretty sure they will be quite pleased with the 153 gun turnout over the two days to take part in this round of their Championship.

Two day shoots are not something that we normally do but for the weekend that was in it and as some of our regular visitors were hoping to attend other events, we decided to give it a go and see how it would pan out, and it proved to be a successful venture. Saturday wasn't the busiest but we did have a good number pass through and it did definitely take the pressure off the lads on the ground with the refilling traps and such like.

Thankfully the weather over the weekend was kind to us, bar one 20 minute spell on Saturday afternoon it was an almost perfect shooting conditions for all who turned out.

With the final results showing 26 shooters with 80 plus totals and a further 42 in the 70's, all in all it seemed to suit most classes. Over the course of the two days there were some superb scores, with Maurice Cavanagh's 92 holding top spot for Saturday and most of Sunday but it was a last minute flush from David Wallace who produced an outstanding round with only 4 targets getting away... so as expected his 96 earned him Overall high gun for the event.

With another successful conclusion to the event, it's only fair to thank all who turned out and took part in this weekend's shoot. Your support it is greatly appreciated. Also a huge thank you to all that helped out in some way with today's event; Thanks to Mark and Glenn in the office and also to Matt and David who took on the late shift to allow them to get out and shoot; to Derek, Maurice and Nigel for setting up over the last few weeks and also keeping things running smoothly on the course together with the help of Ultan and Tony and finally to Sean & John McKenna for the use of their wonderful grounds.

Our next event will be the first round of the 2015 Winter Series of 100 Bird shoots and is being held on 25th October. Further details of this event will be posted in the coming days.
