Maurice Clinches
Cavanagh Cup !

Every Target Counts!
The final round of the 2015 winter series took place on the weekend of the 13th December and after the two previous rounds being so well supported and some super scores being produced, it really came down to the wire and was wide open for multiple possible winners throughout the different classes. On the run up to the weekend there was an awful lot of rain which didn't make things easy for the lads on the ground setting up but as planned a very fair and yet challenging course for the final round and 2015 Christmas Shoot was set up.
Thankfully other than a few light showers on the day it stayed mostly dry for the 177 competitors who took on the 13 stands. With a shooters series total being calculated from their two best scores, this contributed to some substantial jumps in the class tables, but as the totals returned to the club house it became clear that two men sat on the top of the pile with both Alan Kirkpatrick and Maurice Cavanagh on 182's!
So a high gun shoot off would be the deciding factor. This took place over 10 targets on one of the super Sporting stands and with a good crowd of onlookers, the two men kept it tight right to the end. But as we all know they can be only one winner; Maurice Cavanagh pipped Alan by one target to take overall high gun and the Robert Cavanagh Cup in this years series.
This years Prize fund was just shy of €2600 and thankfully a good number of members and visitors waited around as Club Chairman Tony Ward started the prize giving. Among the various awards, Colin Dunne received the Robert Cavanagh Plate for the High gun of the club members for the Series.
Tony finished up by thanking everyone who supported this Series and all the events the club ran in 2015 as it means a lot to the lads in the office and on the ground who put in a lot of hard work in all weather conditions be it good or bad, so that the shoots are well received and enjoyed by all who attend. He also expressed a huge thanks to Sean, John and all the McKenna family for the continued use of their lands as it is greatly appreciated.
Finally we would like to wish all our members and friends a Happy and Safe Christmas and New Year.
