We sadly learnt of Joe’s passing yesterday. Joe was a regular face around the grounds in Smarmore and had been a member of Mill Hill Cpsc since the late 70’s.

He was also part of the team that won the club’s first Leinster League in 1979.

Joe was a country sports man true and true, not only involved in clay shooting but was also a member of the Tallanstown Gun Club, where for years he was invested in the breeding and rearing of the Pheasants for the club to release on their lands.

Over the last while, due to ill-health he was doing less shooting, nevertheless his name regularly popped up in conversation among the lad’s and was always mentioned in a positive light. Joe was a genuine and friendly character who we all enjoyed shooting with.

Not only did Joe represent the Mill Hill club, he also was regular member of the Louth Clay Shooting Team over the years. And one certainty you could count on was Joe taking a position in the prizes at the end of the day.

We the members and committee of Mill Hill Cpsc, would like pass on our sincere condolences to Joe’s wife May, his daughters Mary and Anne, his son Philip and all his extended family and close friends.

Rest in Eternal Peace Joe.
